Hawaii Energy and The National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project is bringing their energy workshop back to Kona. Shirley McCoy and I attended last year and found the workshop enlightening, and got tool kits for classroom use. Sign up on PDE3

Course Title: Hawaii Energy Education Workshop (Kailua-Kona, Hawaii)

Course Description: Educators attending the workshop will be provided with a School Energy Management Kit (designed to teach students about energy consumption and conservation through hands-on projects) or a Science of Energy Kit (designed to teach the concept of force, motion, light, sound, heat, electricity, magnetism and energy transformations). All NEED learning activities are correlated to the Hawaii Content and Performance Standards for science.

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Royal Kona Resort

Other Details: There is no registration fee to participate in this workshop. Registration is limited to 40 participants and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided by NEED.

Upon registering for the workshops, teachers should request a substitute using their school substitute code. At the workshop, attendees will receive a substitute reimbursement form. This form should be completed by the school, attached to an invoice indicating the cost of the substitute teacher for the day, and sent or faxed to the address provided on the form. A check for the cost of the substitute will be issued to the school as indicated on the form.
