Safety First!

Last week was a busy week for safety training workshops!

  • The West Hawai`i District Act 24 Work-Based Learning Program & Safety Training Workshop was held at the Time Warner Oceanic Cable facility. The mock safety walk-through activity was hosted by both Oceanic and Costco—mahalo nui loa to our community partners who supported this important hands-on opportunity.

Here are my documents used in the training. I will upload Orasa’s files as soon as I get them from her.

  • The Annual Automotive Spray Booth Respiratory Training was conducted by our colleague DRTs (and veteran auto tech teachers Dennis Sasai and Myles Yamamoto) in Honolulu. Very valuable information that are useful and applicable beyond the CTE boundaries. Please encourage your colleagues and administrators to check out these documents.

I am working with Orasa at the DOE Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Branch to set up mock safety walk-through for schools desiring this service. Please be reminded that they are very short-handed at the moment. If not the entire school, we are still mandated to conduct an annual safety walk-through of CTE facilities. Be prepared for an October date!
